SINCE 1992
The Martha’s Vineyard Glassworks was established in 1992 by Andrew and Susan Magdanz. With extensive careers in glass, it has long been their passion to share their knowledge and love of the material with the community around them. Seasonal residents of the island, Andy and Susan wanted to build a space to not only create their own work, but to assist other artists in exploring glass as well as educate the community in this traditional craft. With a commitment to community and tradition, The Glassworks aims to be an environment where artists and craftspeople can explore the material, while educating and engaging our Island community.
STAFF
A committed and extensively trained team allows our staff to share responsibilities from the shop floor to the gallery and beyond. This gives our customers and clients the unique opportunity to not only engage with our gallery staff but also a craftsperson who was involved in the creation of our hand-made products. Committed to the operational success of the Glassworks, many of our team members also use the space to create work for themselves and their private companies, a practice we are proud to support.
Gallery
Attached directly to our shop are two Galleries, with rotating work from local artists and Martha’s Vineyard Glassworks Designs. Our lower gallery shows production works and design lines offering multiple color and size variations of our favorite objects. Upstairs we curate rotating shows of one of a kind works, often sculptural and unique. These two galleries compliment one another and show the wide breadth of work that The Glassworks has to offer.

Built in 1992 on a historic property in West Tisbury Massachusetts, The Glassworks is a state of the art glass studio specializing in Glass Blowing but capable of a variety of fabrication techniques. With viewing space attached to the Gallery, our customers have the unique opportunity to watch our team at work while browsing our collections.
